My favorite computer program.

As some of you might know, I'm going to be a veterinarian when I get older. I've been to Texas A&M University in Bryan/College Station. While there, I attended the spring open house at the Vet School. I was able to tour the small animal clinic on a guided tour... But that's another post. Now about my favorite computer program. It's called Paws&Claws PET VET 2   Healing Hands. If you like animals or want to be a vet you really should try out this game. On this game you start a vet clinic and doctor eight different kinds of animals horses, dogs, cats, rabbits and more.    

In this game pet's owners bring you there animals and tell you the animals symptoms. And your virtual personal digital assistant (Pda) tells you how
to doctor it. You can study and go to college.  I really like this game and enjoyed it.

Caribou

In my Language Arts for my school I had to write a report about caribou.


Caribou are mammals that look like a moose with smaller antlers or a large deer with big antlers.  They are four to twelve feet tall  and are four to five feet wide. Their fur color is gray with black, white and brown hide. Caribou hooves are very important. They use them to act as snow shoes when they walk across thin ice and deep snow. Also their hooves
help the caribou break ice and dig in snow. A caribou eats mainly moss and lichens.  Caribou mainly live in the tundra of Canada, Alaska, Scandinavia and Siberia. The caribou do not mate for life. Baby caribou stay with their mothers until they are one to two years.

Feral hogs

       We have feral hogs on our property,so I'm going to tell you some facts about them...

1.  Male hogs have ever growing tusks; they sharpen there tusks on other hogs.
2.  Hogs don't have good eye site but have good scent and are fast runners.
3.  Feral hogs can mature to reproduce in less than six months.
4.  A mother hog can have a litter typically of four to six piglets.

5.  Feral sows are extremely protective of there young.
6.  Feral hogs are omnivores meaning they eat both meat and vegetables.
7.  Hogs can get rabies like other animals but its highly unlikely.
8.  Wild hogs like to live where it is wet muddy areas near vegetation.

Sequoyah

I would like to tell you about a book I read about a Cherokee  man named Sequoyah .  He was born in Tennessee between 1760 and1765.  When he was fifty years old he wanted to capture the Cherokee people's voices in writing. So he began drawing thousands of symbols. He drew a symbol for each word. The other Cherokee people  thought he was crazy. They decided to to burn his cabin down because thats where he kept his symbols.  Sequoyah stopped drawing symbols it was just to hard to remember. Instead he drew letters to spell out the sounds of the langue. When Sequoyah taught his daughter a six year old to read his langue the other Cherokee people were inspired to read and write. All of the Cherokee people learned the langue quickly. In 1824 the Cherokee gave Sequoyah a medal. A kind missionary named Worcester helped Sequoyah  turn his into sturdy symbols that can be printed with lead type. I hope you enjoy this book.

Collies

I have a Collie dog and would like to share a few facts about caring for them:

Grooming
There are two types of Collie fur: smooth and rough - neither needs much work. Rough Collies need brushing once a week. This helps remove mats and loose hair.  A smooth Collie needs less grooming. You also need  to flea comb both types regularly.

Food and Water 

Dogs always need to be able to get fresh, clean water.  Puppies need to be fed a wet and dry food mixed together three to five times a day. An adult needs one to two cups of food. All dogs need bones to help there teeth.

Exercise
Collies were originally breed for herding sheep and cattle so they like lots of exercise. Collies are very intelligent dogs that thrive for activities and chores. They need to be walked regularly or let outside.                                                          

Adopting 

You can adopt a collie from many different places. Here are a few of the places I know of in Texas, check your area and help give a dog a new home today.  Sometimes they even have cute little guys like these...

Mahatma Gandhi

A report about Mahatma Gandhi

     Mahatma Gandhi was born in India in 1869 and died in 1948. When he was fifteen, he smoked and stole things. After he did this he was sorry and asked his father for a punishment.  But his father didn't punish him. Instead he forgave Gandhi.  Later in his life Gandhi went to England to study law Gandhi's family were of the Hindu religion.  They believe in a false god called Brahman.  Hindus think that part of Brahman is in everyone and is called Atman.  They also believe in reincarnation. When Gandhi returned from England he was thrown off a train because he was an Indian.  After that happened, he started a little town for Indians.  They made all the things they needed.  


India has a lot of salt but India was ruled by England.  The British took all of India's salt and didn't let other people gather the salt, but the British sold it back to Indians at higher prices.  Gandhi led thousands of people in a march to the sea in India and each person took a handful of salt.  The police arrested Gandhi and they took him to jail but they let him out later.  He was awarded Time Magazine Man of the Year in January 1931, mainly for his Declaration of Indian Independence.  

In 1948 he died, after being shot at a prayer meeting.  The assassin said he blamed Gandhi for the division of India.  Everyone did not feel this way, more than half a million people attended his funeral.  I would like to end with a quote by Gandhi, "What I did was a very simple thing, I declared that the British could not oder me around in my own country.''

"There is no way to peace, peace is the way."

I am a Baptist, but I feel that Gandhi did a lot of good things.

Ranch Rodeo

A couple of weeks ago, my family and I went to a ranch rodeo that one our friends was in.  He entered wild cow milking, chalk branding, and calf roping and more. I enjoyed the calf penning the most. Calf penning is when a  herd of calf's with numbers on them are let in the arena. A team of four men on horseback have to get all of the calf's with the same numbers on them in the pen.The rodeo was at the Cowboy Church in Athens.   The people there were friendly. I would recommend you visit the many activities that this church sponsors.
