Vintage cars

 Ford Sedan Slant Back
I really like vintage  cars, so I was excited when a local Volunteer Fire Department  put on a car show. My favorite cars were this Cadillac and the Ford Sedan Slant Back.

10 interesting vintage car facts:
  1. Karl Benz, the first inventor of the gasoline-powered automobile, made one of the first cars in 1893.
  2. Henry Ford, the inventor of the Model T in1908 , once said about the colors of cars he produced “any color you want, so long as it’s black.”
  3. The first Chevrolet Corvette came out in 1953.
  4. Original V.W. beetles had no gas gauges but if you ran out you could pull a lever under the dash to access a "reserve" supply of 1/2 gallon.
  5. More than 15 million Model Ts were produced.
  6. Henry Ford sold his first Model T for $950.00.
  7. The first V.W. beetle was made in 1945.
  8. During the Model T nineteen years of production the price came down to $280.00.
  9. A new V.W. beetle in 1968 cost $1,800.00.
  10. The first car radio was invented in 1929.

  1. Vintage cars for the win! :D Whenever I go to vintage car exhibits, I always look for the Ford Model T. It’s always my favorite. This type of auto is very dear to my heart because it reminds me of my late grandfather. He used to own one. He even gave us a ride in his Tin Lizzie. It was awesome!

  2. Thanks a lot for the comment. The Ford Model T is on my favorite list too. Do you have any ideas on how I could improve my blog?
    Thanks

  3. We share the same interest, Christopher :) You just can’t say no to vintage, right? One fact about the Cadillac: It was the first to use power steering and a synchromesh transmission in automobile history.

  5. I’m a vintage car aficionada myself! :) My dad has a 1940 Ford Deluxe Convertible which he inherited from grandpa. We always make it a habit to regularly drive it around the town to keep the engine lubricated and running.

    1. Naomi,
Thanks a lot for commenting on my blog. It's really nice that your dad's Ford Deluxe Convertible was passed down from you grandfather. I bet it's a lot of fun getting to ride around town in it.

      Thanks,
      Christopher

  6. Those interesting vintage car facts would definitely be helpful to people who are conducting a study about vintage cars, Chris. Good job! If you’rer a vintage car enthusiast, I assume you are familiar with the controversial Tucker Torpedo (Tucker 48)? It's one of my favorite classic cars. Imagine the initial body design of Tucker 48 was done in only 6 days - well that's one reason to love this car. :)

  8. These cars reminded me of my grandfather because he used to own one of these cars, the very first Chevrolet Corvette to be specific. My grandfather used to drive us around the mountains near our village that time, and it was such a wonderful memory. Let's not talk about that anymore. :) Those are nice pieces of history right there, my friend.

  9. What a milestone, Earlene! :) You're grandpa has a good taste in cars. :) However, I like the second generation (C2) Corvette better, which was commonly referred to as the "Sting Ray" designed by no other than the great "Larry Shinoda".
